The lion is nicknamed "King of the Jungle" and we can describe his music Royal March of the Lion by moving to it.
Explain that INTRODUCTION is "announcement music" before the actual marching music begins. ASK Can you identify the instruments you hear (piano and strings).
MARCH means the lion is marching along the path.
ROAR means the lion is roaring with his mouth opening wide and then closing.
Play recording and invite students to mirror your motions:
INTRODUCTION — mimic playing the instruments
MARCH — pat the lion's footsteps on alternate legs
ROAR — vertically pull pressed palms apart and then back together
Distribute scarves.
Play recording again with new motions:
INTRODUCTION — randomly wave scarves
MARCH — march in place and wave scarves
ROAR — shimmy scarves up high and then down low
