This song is in a march-style. As you listen, follow the leader and march around the room to the steady beat. (The leader could be the drum major of your Halloween marching band!)
Add motions to each verse of this Halloween song while you sing.
Oh, when the creatures come to town: March around the room while pumping your arms.
Oh, when I hear those eerie sounds: Cup one hand to your ear.
Oh, when the bats begin to fly: Flap your hands as though you are flying.
Oh, when the ghosts begin to shriek: Cup your hands near your mouth.
Oh, when the goblins dance around: Dance in your own way.
Oh, when my bones begin to shake: Shake your body (hands, arms, legs, feet, etc.)
Oh, when the creatures come to town: (Same as above)
Halloween marching band: Divide the group into bats, ghosts, and goblins. Assign an instrument to each group. As you sing the song, march around the room while following the leader (drum major). When you get to the verse about bats, ghosts, and goblins, everyone sits down except the featured group. They will stand up and march in place while playing the steady beat on their instrument. When their turn is over, they will sit down. (Everyone will march and play together on all the other verses.)
Bats: Play the steady beat on wood instruments in the Halloween marching band.
Ghosts: Play the steady beat on metal instruments in the Halloween marching band.
Goblins: Play the steady beat on the drums in the Halloween marching band.
